Petra van den Berg:
"Right from the start, NGI has made a clear choice to closely collaborate with the universities and their Technology Transfer Offices on all aspects of valorisation. The NGI approach towards organising valorisation within the universities, because that is where the research takes place, combined with their cooperative attitude makes that the Valorisation Network and the NGI valorisation activities are much appreciated in the field.
This support from the universities and TTOs is crucial to ensure a structural embedding of the knowledge and experience gained within the Valorisation Network. After all, initiatives like NGI are temporary in nature, but genomics research will continue as will the valorisation thereof. In my view, the Network will play a key role in this embedding process, which will also benefit the valorisation activities in other fields. The portfolios of Tech Transfer officers cover more than just genomics. Therefore, the overall life sciences sector and adjacent fields will also benefit from the knowledge built up in the NGI Valorisation Network."
