By stimulating talent and boosting careers, NGI brings new insight, skills and resources to the world of genomics research. NGI has set ambitious goals, in such a way that these activities will not only become stronger in the coming five years, but will also continue after 2012.

Horizon Programme

NGI has made € 20 million available for continuation of the Horizon Programme during the 2008 - 2012 period. The focus of the Horizon Programme in the second period will be on development of talented individual researchers, support for innovative research and stimulating the valorisation of research results.

Horizon Valorisation Project Grant

The Horizon Valorisation Project Grant is available for researchers that have already been awarded a Horizon Breakthrough project to further support valorisation of their research results. The grant may be used to validate research, or perform pre-clinical research or (further) clinical research to improve the valorisation potential of the research as performed in the Horizon Breakthrough project.

GeNeYouS - Genomics Network for Young Scientists

With the support of NGI and Agentschap NL (previously SenterNovem) IOP Genomics, GeNeYouS has been set up as an extensive network of young scientists working in various fields in all university cities in the Netherlands. GeNeYouS aims to bring young scientists in genomics together by increasing their (scientific) knowledge and career opportunities.
