MedSciences Capital is pleased to announce that its portfolio company Prosensa Holding is entering into a $ 680 million alliance with leading pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline to fight Duchene Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD, which affects about one in 3,500 newborn boys, causes progressive loss of muscular strength, often resulting in death in early adulthood. No treatment is currently available. Prosensa was established in 2003 and is a spin-off of NGI’s Centre for Medical Systems Biology (CMSB).
