First complete tomato genome release!

Monday, December 07, 2009

The Centre for BioSystems Genomics (CBSG) and EU-SOL,
a research project funded by the European Commission, have coordinated the sequencing of the genome of tomato using next generation technologies. This multinational effort involved support
from 5 other countries as well as major technical support from Keygene, Roche and Applied BioSystems.

This first draft sequence will be released at the beginning of December and the first annotated version will be launched during the PAG Conference in San Diego in January. This represents a major leap forward in research on this crop with huge application potential.
