NBIC submitted a proposal for the second phase. NGI awarded this business plan with €12,5 million, with an additional valorisation budget of €1,2 million. NBIC-II's main focus is on ensuring that NBIC will use its infrastructure to actually solve questions raised by the NGI Genomics Centres and other major consortia. NBIC will utilise its tools and expertise for research in life sciences. It will also investigate opportunities for the exploitation of research results.
The NPC was awarded €20 million for its second phase, with an additional valorisation budget of €1,2 million. The NPC’s scientific programme addresses key areas of proteomics in a large number of projects and specialised ‘research hotels’. NPC is a strategic collaboration of research groups from six universities, three academic medical centres and several biotech companies.
NBIC and NPC also receive an additional sum of €1,05 million for the joint project ‘Gaining Momentum at the Proteomics-Bioinformatics interface’.
