During the 14th International Celiac Disease Symposium that was held in Oslo in June 2011, the International Society for Study of Celiac Disease (ISSCD) was founded as the international organisation for all health professionals working in the field of Celiac Disease.
Frits Koning, CEO of the Celiac Disease Consortium, was appointed its first president. The other board members are:
- Stefano Guandalini, USA
- Knut Lundin, Norway
- Nadine Cerf-Bensussan, France
- Bob Anderson, Australia.
The goals of the ISSCD are to organise scientific meetings, to promote, sponsor and steer international research efforts and to organise education and exchange in the field of Celiac Disease.
