Centre for Medical Systems Biology (CMSB) spin-off company Prosensa, a biopharmaceutical company on antisense oligonucleotide therapeutics (to target the growth of specific genes), has closed an € 18 million financing round and has strengthened its management team with several new key appointments.
Furthermore, Prosensa has started the first worldwide phase I/II study in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) patients. In this study, the recent success proving the concept of local dystrophin production will be extended to a study with systemic application to achieve widespread dystrophin expression in muscles.
