Low thyroid hormone level marker for longevity

Various studies have shown an association between longevity and low thyroid hormone levels in animal models. In human populations, an association was observed between low thyroid function and longevity at old age. Studies from the Netherlands Consortium for Healthy Ageing now confirm that the favorable role of low thyroid hormone metabolism on health and longevity in model organisms is applicable to humans as well.
