The NGI Pre-Seed Grant is now open for submissions. Aim of the Grant is to help potential young start-ups in genomics demonstrate the business opportunities of their research results, and proceed towards the commercial application of knowledge.
As promising as the results (and patents) from fundamental research may be, it is always difficult for start-ups to find an investor. Fact is that potential investors need to be convinced by further applied research demonstrating the business opportunities of a new technology.
Demonstrate the business opportunities of your research:
start tomorrow’s company today!
The NGI Pre-Seed Grant awards up to 250 K€ for applied research leading to commercial exploitation of fundamental research with a clear potential to start-up a new business. Examples of NGI Pre-Seed Grant Projects are animal experiments or pre-clinical trials. Financing may also be used to fund practical issues concerning the start-up of a company, such as the acquisition of knowledge on legal or IP aspects.
Applications for a NGI Pre-Seed Grant will be judged on the criteria below.
- Chances for market introduction and economic viability of the product.
- The strategy concerning the actual start-up of a company.
- Scientific quality and technological feasibility.
- Entrepreneurial qualities of the researcher/project team.
Don't let your research go to waste. Valorise your result by starting a new business.
