Despite similar body composition, descendants from long living families show a lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and better glucose tolerance than their partners, centralising the role of favourable glucose metabolism in familial longevity. This result of the Leiden Longevity Study, part of the Netherlands Consortium for Healthy Ageing, was published in the March edition of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society by Maarten Rozing et al.
