A number of NGI Genomics Centres have participated in the recent FES round of € 500 million and scored excellent results.
The Ecogenomics Consortium, for example, was awarded a € 18 million plan within the BE-BASIC programme. And VIRGO Consortium, which participated as part of the Life Sciences & Health theme, can also significantly expand its activities thanks to a grant of € 10.7 million. What's more, an amount of € 40 million was committed to Top Institute Food & Nutrition, with part of the funds being used for the Nutrigenomics Consortium. Finally, NBIC will carry out the infrastructure programme for € 1 million, and € 3 million has been reserved for valorisation activities within the Life Sciences & Health theme.
All in all, this represents a total of some € 35 million to support and extend the NGI activities, forming a first step in the embedment process as envisaged in the ‘Partners in the Polder’ vision book.
